New Year New You? (blog)

Updated: Jan 10, 2020

To resolve or not to resolve, that is often the question this time of year. Here at Cohab, we believe that resolutions can be a great thing, if they're strategically made.

People who write down and, by doing so, very vividly describe their goals are anywhere from 1.2 to 1.4 times more likely to achieve them. That's a pretty big boost from something as simple as putting what you would like to accomplish down on paper.

But why?

There are actually several scientific reasons. External Storage, Encoding, and the Generation Effect are a few of the reasons scientist believe contribute to the effect, but I have one more theory. To vividly write down a goal, to draw or print pictures of it, to blog or journal it, to select it as a real destination, as opposed to a fanciful idea, causes us, even if subconsciously, to start exploring the paths to get there.

Writing your goals down changes your dream (a fuzzy, nebulous idea to be visited in your down time), to a destination that can be reached if the right map is consulted.

If your dream is to start a business in 2020, if you would like to grow your "side-hustle" into a living, if you would like to start that podcast or Facebook live show, if you would like to open that food truck or create a prototype for that invention, I hope you'll reach out to us at Cohab so we can help you write down your goals and convert your dream into a destination.

Your idea may be crazy, but that doesn't mean it's not viable. You may be at the end of your first career, but that doesn't mean you aren't about to start your second. We don't want a new you. At Cohab, we want to help the you that you've always been to finally find their way to that goal.

2020 is here, are you ready?
